CHITTAGONG: Four people were killed and seven others injured in a road crash on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Shuklar Haat area under Sitakunda upzila of the district Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as bus driver Abul Kashem, 35, bus passengers Zarina Begum, 42, and Nazmul Hasan, 24, and covered van driver Obaidullah.

The injured were Johirul Islam, 20, Mamun, 27, M Salek, 27, Mohammad Mamun, 25, M  Nannu Mian, 50, Shahidul Islam, 28, and covered van helper M Yusuf, 26, 

Bara Aulia police outpost officer-in-charge Jakir Hossain told banglanews, “A Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Israt Paribahan collided head-on with a covered van in the area at 6:45am, leaving three people dead on the spot and injured eight others.”

The injured were rushed to the Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as condition deteriorated.

Of the injured, Nazmul succumbed to his injuries at CMCH.
