FROM MAWA GHAT: The ill-fated Pinak-6 which drowned in Padma river in Mawa of Munshiganj on Monday carrying more than 200 passengers is still missing after four-day of the accident.
The rescue team recovered 40 bodies from Padma and Meghna rivers till Friday afternoon. Among them, 23 bodies were handed over to their relatives but other 17 bodies identity could not be known yet.
Madaripur District Police Super Khandakar Faridul Islam confirmed the matter.
Some 12 unidentified bodies were buried in Shibchar graveyard of the district.
PIO Anwar Hossain of District Administration control room of Sadar upazila in Munshiganj also confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Latest and modern investigation ship Jarip-10 also failed to trace the drowned launch.
Earlier, another ship Kandari-2 also joined to trace Pinak-6.
Captain Nazrul Islam of Bangladesh Navy said though the modern ships till now failed to trace the Pinak-6 but we are trying our to recovered the ship.
Till Friday noon, the rescue team recovered five bodies from Mawa, eight from Shariatpur, 10 from Barisal, four from Chandpur, 11 from Bhola, one from Lakshmipur and one from Madaripur.
