FROM MAWA GHAT: The Pinak-6, which capsized in the Padma river in Mawa of Munshiganj on Monday, carrying over 250 passengers, is yet to trace and 108 still missing on sixth days.
The rescue team recovered 42 bodies from the Padma and Meghna rivers till Saturday morning. Amongst them, 24 bodies were handed over to their relatives but other 16 bodies could not be identified.
Some 12 unidentified bodies were buried in Shibchar graveyard of Madaripur district and four more unidentified bodies have been kept under supervision of local administration.
Officer-in-Charge of Sirajdikhan Thana of Munshiganj (Investigation) Nurul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews on Saturday morning.
PIO Anwar Hossain of District Administration control room of Sadar upazila in Munshiganj also confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Latest and modern rescue ship Jarip-10 also failed to trace the drowned launch.
Earlier, another ship Kandari-2 also joined to search mission of Pinak-6.
Captain Nazrul Islam of Bangladesh Navy said though the modern ships till now failed to trace the Pinak-6 but we are trying our best to recover the launch.
