DHAKA: New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully praised Bangladesh community for their positive contributions in his country especially in the socio-economic development.
He came up with the appreciation in a meeting with Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali in Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday where they joined ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Meeting.
In the parley, they also discussed the issue of purchase of a ferry boat by New Zealand from Bangladesh.
Bangladesh foreign minister recalled with gratitude the valuable support and contribution of the people and government of New Zealand during the Liberation War in 1971 and also during post independence period.
The two foreign ministers agreed to further widen and strengthen bilateral relations based.
During the meeting, the New Zealand Foreign Minister conveyed the invitation of the New Zealand Prime Minister to the Bangladesh Prime Minister to visit New Zealand early next year.
The Foreign Minister is attending the tow-day ASEAN Regional Forum Meeting from August 9.
