DHAKA: Investigation team formed by the shipping ministry will receive on August 12 public hearing of the survived passengers from the capsized ferry Pinak-6.

The ministry said that they will hear from the survived passengers about the details of the accident for further inquiry.

The hearing will be held at Padma Rest House in Mawa.

The disclosure was made at a press release held at the shipping ministry on Sunday.

The ministry requested the passengers as well as witnesses to be present before the committee to narrate the situation from 10:00am to 4:00pm on the day.

On August 4, the reportedly over-loaded launch, Pinak-6, was carrying over 200 passengers. It was capsized near Mawa Ghat in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj.

However, 128 people are still missing according to the administration’s list while the rubble of the sunken launch is yet to be found.

From last Monday till this Sunday, so far 46 bodies were recovered from the rivers.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has charged six people including the owner of the passenger ferry, its sareng master and helmsman with causing death by negligence after the vessel sank.

On the other hand, a metallic object resembling signal was imaged in the river Padma, nearly one kilometer off the Mawa launch ghat.
