DHAKA: Speakers at a roundtable discussion said National Broadcast Policy 2014 is likely to be a new means to breach people’s freedom of expression and to serve the interest of those holding power.
Pressure against this policy is to keep continue so that it can no longer be turn into a law, people who support the policy would have to suffer one day.
The speakers came up with the observation while addressing the roundtable on ‘National Broadcast Policy and Freedom of Expression’ organized by Bangladesh Sommilito Peshazibi Parishad at the National Press Club.
Acting convener of the organization Ruhul Amin Gazi presided over the discussion meeting while its member secretary Dr ZM Zahid Hossain moderated.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, former chief election commissioner Justice Abdur Rauf, Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh President Dr AKM Azizul Haque, film maker Chashee nazul Islam and BRAC University Professor Pias Karim also spoke.
