Nani-Taher sent to jail, probe progress report Sept 14

DHAKA: The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Wednesday ordered to send war crimes accused Ataur Rahman Nani and Obidul Haque of Netrokona to jail.

The tribunal led-by its chairman M Enayetur Rahim also asked the prosecution to submit the progress report of ongoing investigation against the accused on September 14.

Prosecutors Mokhlesur Rahman Badal and Sabina Yasmin Munni produced the accused before the tribunal.

On Tuesday, Netrokona Sadar Thana police arrested Nani from Moktarpara and Obidul from Teribazar of the district following the arrest warrant issued by the tribunal.

In 2010, Freedom fighter Ali Reza Kanchon filed a case accusing twelve people include Nani and Obaidul of committing crimes against humanity during War of Independence in 1971.
