RANGPUR: Vice President of Rangpur City Awami League unit was killed as lightning struck him in Tajhat area of the city on Thursday evening.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz, 60.

General Secretary of city Awami League Tushar Kaniti Mandal told banglanews that lighting struck Aziz when he went to visit his land property in the area, leaving him dead on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge of Ragpur Sadar Thana Abdul Quader Zilani confirmed the matter to banglanews.

President of the city Awami League Shafiar Rahman Shafi, district Awami League President Momtaz Uddin Ahmed and General Secretary Rezaul Karim Razu expressed profound shock at the death.
