Signal-3 continues at seaports

DHAKA: Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoist local cautionary signal number three.

Meteorological department, in warning message, said due to strong monsoon deep convection is taking place over North Bay. Squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

 Besides, in a river port warning message, the met office said in association with rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly squalls speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the  regions of Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s bazar and Sylhet wherein river ports shall hoist riverine warning signal number two.

Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.
