MUNSHIGANJ: Agitating locals, who blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at the area of Gazaria left the highway.

Witnesses told banglanews that the people removed the block from highway around 2:30pm though there’s still a long tailback both the sides of the bridge Meghna.

Earlier, villagers of Tetoitala of the upazila made the blockade demanding immediate removal of Gazaria Thana OC Ferdous Ahmed around 12:15pm.

However, a team of police, later, led by Gazaria Thana Sub-Inspectors Mintu and Ataur, convinced the people to withdraw the blockade.

The villagers alleged that miscreants vandalized their 14 houses centering upcoming Baluakandi Union Parishad election to be held on August 24.

OC Ferdous refused them at that time to take any case following the incident, they added.

In this circumstance, villagers said, they don’t want Ferdous as the OC of Gazaria anymore.

During the blockade around 500 vehicles got stranded there causing a lot of sufferings to the passengers.
