Farabi threatens Bangladesh Pratidin editor

DHAKA: Shafiur Rahman Farabi alias ‘Extremist Farabi’ on Sunday night threatened to kill Noeem Nizam, Editor of popular national daily Bangladesh Pratidin.

Noeem Nizam has filed a general diary (GD) with Bhatara Thana in city.

Farabi posted a status on his Facebook account ‘Farabi Shafiur Rahman’ threatening Noeem Nizam for publishing articles by Taslima Nasreen.

Shafiur Rahman Farabi is allegedly connected with spreading extremist ideologies. His accounts on social sites also show that he is a staunch supporter of extremist ideologies.

Earlier on February 25, 2013, police arrested Farabi from Chittagong University area for issuing threat to the Imam who anchored the Namaz-e-Janaja of blogger Rajib, known as “Thaba Baba” on blogs.

At that time, he was an honors fourth year student in Physics at CU.

However, Farabi got temporary bail in a case filed against him on August 21, 2013, under the ICT act and attempt to murder case.
