Govt for freedom of journos, says Inu

DHAKA: Information minister Hasanul Haque Inu said that criticisms of the broadcast policy are not acceptable as the government is working for ensuring the freedom of the journalists.

He came up with the assertion in a discussion marking national mourning day at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) on Thursday in city.

The minister said that the government is working to ensure the constitutional rights for newspapers and journalists. The newly formulated broadcast policy was made in this regard.

Addressing the journalists, he said that ‘You will enjoy full freedom’.

Inu said that a commission will be formed for broadcast policy and later, the commission will formulate a law in this regard.

He also asked the critics to give their recommendation and to help the government in formulating this law.

PIB chairman Habibur Rahman Milon presided over the program, attended by noted journalists.
