CHNADPUR: A Dhaka-bound launch with 700 passengers on board got stuck on a shoal in the Meghna River in the district early Saturday.
Sources said that the launch named ‘MV Sattar Khan’ left Dhaka for Patuakhali and got stuck in the river at 3:30am.
Panic is prevailing among the passengers of the water vessel.
Haimchar thana officer-in-charge Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Chandpur police super Ameer Jafar told banglanews that after the incident, a launch left Chandpur launch terminal for spot to rescue the stuck launch.
