MUNSHIGANJ: The plying of ferries has been disputed on the Mawa-Kawrakandi route due to heavy current on the Padma River since Saturday night, triggering tailbacks on both sides of the river.
Some six out of 16 ferries were kept anchored at the jetties as they failed sailing due to the current. The ferries on service are taking more time than usual to arrive at the two jetties.
Over 1,000 vehicles, including five hundreds goods-laden, tricks got stranded on both sides of the river, causing immense miseries to thousands of passengers.
Mawa Marine Police Outpost Sub-Inspector Khandaker Khalid confirmed the matter banglanews.
