DHAKA: A youth was killed and his girlfriend was injured when a running train hit them at Zoar Sahara Rail Crossing point in Kuril Biswa Road area on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as M Ratan, 19, a HSC examinee at a college in Tongi area, son of Abdul Hekim, who resided at Nurer Chala under Vatara Thana of the city.

Identity of the girl was not made disclose.

Confirming the matter, Kurmitola Thana Officer-In-Charge Abdul Mozid told banglanews, “A running train hit them while crossing the Zoar Sahara Rail Crossing point at 4:00pm on Saturday, leaving the boy and the girl injured. Of them, the boy was severely injured.

Locals rushed them to Kurmitola General Hospital where the boy succumbed to his injuries.

Police sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

The girl, who sustained minor injuries, has recovered from her injuries, Mozid added.
