Unauthorized DNA test punishable

DHAKA: The Parliamentary Committee finalized the report of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Bill-2014 keeping provision of punishment for unauthorized test, preserve of DNA.

The violators, in this regard, will be jailed up to five years and Tk 300,000 fine.

For DNA profiling without approval, one could be jailed for two to three years and fined Tk 100,000.

With State minister for children affairs Meher Afroz Chumki in the chair, the committee finalized the report on Sunday at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. 

Mohammad Sirajul Akbar, Mahbub Ara Begum Gini, Manwara Begum and Rifat Amin and other high officials of the ministry joined in the meeting.
