DHAKA: The Home Ministry has taken initiatives to introduce online tender system with a view to avoiding tender manipulation by the ruling Awami League leaders and activists.
The government is committed to introduce the ‘e-tender’ system in their last tenure but failed to do so.
Sources told banglanews on Monday that the image of ruling AL is at stake for its leaders’ and activists’ violence and corruption regarding tenders.
Besides, more than often these create infighting, they added.
This is why government, in a cabinet meeting on Law and Order Affairs, has decided to introduce the e-tender system.
The Home Ministry has directed all ministries and divisions to take necessary actions in this regard.
The ministry asked all to inform detail schedules of tender process to the law enforcers, including RAB, so that they could take quick actions if any manipulation takes place.
A letter, signed by Deputy Secretary of Home Ministry Habibur Rahman has already been circulated to all the departments which said all government and non-government organizations have to introduce ‘Electronic Government Procurement (EGP)’ and bring tender system under online system.
Election Commission (EC) was also asked to introduce the system.
