SIRAJGANJ: A rashly driven truck ran over a police constable on Hatikumrul-Banpara highway in Harinchara area under Salanga Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman, 48, a constable of Hatikumrul Highway Thana, son of Altaf Ali, hailed from Trishal Upazila of Mymensingh.

Sources said that the truck ran over Habibur when he was crossing the road near Thana after getting down from pickup, leaving him dead on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Hatikumrul Thana Police Sergeant Iqbal Hossain told banglanews that a case was filed in this connection.
