Transport strike underway in Rangamati

RANGAMATI: The indefinite strike, enforced by Rangamati Bus Owners Association and Bus Sramik Union, is underway in 14 road and six river routes in the district on Wednesday.

The organization called bus strike demanding penalty of attackers during clash between transport workers and local shopkeepers in old bus stand area.

Due to the strike, all types of transport service, including CNG run auto-rickshaws, remained stopped which created immense sufferings to the city dwellers.

Rangamati Motor Owners Association president Moinuddin Selim said the strike will be continued until our demands are met.

Additional police forces were seen in the important points of the district.

Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge Monu Sohel Imtiaz said that police detained two attackers.

Earlier on Monday night, following a personal matter some transport workers locked into clash with shopkeepers in old bus stand area of the district town, leaving five transport workers injured.
