SIRAJGANJ: At least 20 people were infected with anthrax, a bacterial disease that spreads from cattle, at Char-Nandigram village under Ullahpara upazila of the district.
The doctors of Ullahpara upazila health complex confirmed the matter to banglanews on Tuesday.
Sources said that on August, an ox became sick in the village. Then locals slaughtered it and distributed meat among villagers. Later, the people those who ate the meat, started to see symptom of Anthrax.
Later, the patients were sent to Ullapara Health Complex.
Confirming the matter Sirajganj Civil Surgeon Dr Shamsuddin said that forming a medical team of health department started to render medical service.
There is nothing to worry about, he added.
