DHAKA: Myanmar deputy foreign minister U Thant Kyaw will head a seven-member team to attend the 8th bilateral meeting to be held in Dhaka on August 31.
The visiting team is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Thursday night.
According to the Bangladesh foreign ministry sources, Kyaw’s visit will not only be confined in bilateral meetings. He will go to Sylhet, country’s one of the tourist attractions.
Officials of the two neighboring countries will discuss several issues including Rohinya refugee and border management.
The issues of arranging regular meeting on mutual security and expected visit of Myanmar president Thein Sein will also be included in the upcoming meeting.
The sources added that Myanmar deputy foreign minister along with his other team members will go to Sylhet on Friday noon. They will visit Sylhet’s Tamabil and Jaflong tourist spots and also the tea gardens.
They will also visit some border posts with India of that region.
The visiting team will return to Dhaka on Saturday night and attend the bilateral meeting on Sunday.
A meeting is expected to be held at noon on the day between Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and U Thant Kyaw.
Kyaw is also expected to hold a meeting with Bangladesh state minister for home affairs Asaduzzaman Khan.
The visiting team will leave Dhaka on September 1.
