86,750 people marooned in Sunamganj

SUNAMGANJ: Around 86,750 people have been marooned in 11 upazilas as incessant rains and the onrush of water from upstream in the Surma River. 

Among the 11 upazilas, eight were affected severely. These are- Tahirpur, Biswambhar, Doarabazar, Jamalganj, Sunamganj, Sunamganj Sadar, Chhatak, Dharmapasha. 

Sunamganj District Flood Control Room said that some 86,750 people of 17,145 families were affected due to flood. 

On the other hand, water was flowing 32cm above the danger level in Sunamganj Point of the Surma River. 

Sunamganj District Administration Flood Control Room told banglanews that 182 metric ton rice and Tk 3.40 lakh have been allotted for 11 affected upazilas.
