DHAKA: Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism signed a deal with of three hill tracks district parishads’ chairmen to develop the tourism industry handing over the power to locals.
The deal was signed at a programme in a city hotel on Thursday.
Secretary Khorshed Alam Chowdhury inked the deal on behalf of the ministry.
Rangamati district administrator Nikhil Kumar Chakma, Khagrachari district administrator Chai Thou Ong Marma and Bandarban district administrator Pau-Shawlla also signed the deal.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Prime Minister’s international Affairs Adviser Gowher Rizvi and Bir Bahadur U Sheisu were among others present at the function.
Addressing the function, Rashed Khan Menon said, “The newly signed deal was granted as per ‘Chittagong Hill Tracts Treaty’ signed in 1997. It is now essential to implement the peace treaty.”
