1 killed in Sylhet clash

SYLHET: A person was killed and more than 50 others were injured over a clash between two groups at Khadimnagar Tea Estate on Friday.

Tension is prevailing at Dewairbahar village following the clash started from around 11:00am.

The deceased was identified as Masukur Rahman, 25, resident of the area.

Following a longstanding dispute, two rival groups--Young Star Samaj Kollyan Sangstha and Krishak Sangram Samiti-- locked into the clash over establishing supremacy at that area, they added. 

The clash left Masuk dead on the spot and more than 50 others injured while some houses have also been looted in that area.

Confirming the matter, Sylhet Airport Thana Officer-in-Charge Shah Jaman said that police, somehow, took the situation under control.

However, they seized some locally-made weapons from the area detained 10 people, he added. Law enforcers, led-by SMP additional deputy commissioner Rahamatullah, were deployed there.
