CHITTAGONG: Local CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers put a blockade on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Bortakia bypass area in Mirersarai, causing long tailback on both sides of the highway since Tuesday morning.

However, vehicles, carrying passengers and goods from and to Chittagong, got stuck there making a tailback due to the blockade.

Sources told banglanews that the auto-rickshaw drivers early Tuesday organized the blockade by setting fire on tyres on the highway.

With the blockade, they are protesting harassments and cases along with the detaining one of their colleagues.

Mirersarai Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Imtiaz Bhuiyan, confirming the matter, said that police is trying to solve the problem over talking with the blockaders.
