DHAKA: A contractor was electrocuted in Pakuria Khantech area of Turag Thana in the city on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Aiyub Ali, 48, son of M Shahadat Hossain of Harirampur village of Parbatipur Thana in Dinajpur.

Sub-inspector (SI) Ashraful Alam of Turag Thana said Aiyub was electrocuted as he came in contact with a live electric wire while supervising the construction works of a building around 9:00am.

Aiyub’s fellows took him to the Bangladesh Medical College Hospital in Uttara where the attending doctors declared him dead.

Later, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy, the SI added.
