Faruqi laid to rest in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH: The slain Maulana Sheikh Nurul Islam Faruqi, an Islamic program anchor of private Channel-I, was laid to rest on Saturday at Nawabganj village graveyard under Boda Upazila of the district. 

Ahmed Reza Faruqi, son of Nurul Islam Faruqi, lead the Namaz-e-Janaza around 11:00am.

Advocate Nurul Islam Sujan, Member of the parliament of Panchagarh-2 constituency, and Din Mohammad, Panchagarh Additional Superintendent of Police, among others attended the Namaz-e-Janaza.

Earlier on Friday, the namaz-e-janaza of Maulana Sheikh Nurul Islam Faruqi was completed at Baitul Mokarram premise after the Jumma prayer.

Distinguished persons including Chief Justice Muzammel Hossain and Islami Front president Mujibul Bashar Maijbhandari attended the janaza.

On Wednesday night, miscreants stabbed Maulana Sheikh Nurul Islam Faruqi to death at his East Razabazar residence in city.
