DHAKA: Noted film actor ATM Shamsuzzaman’s youngest son was awarded life-time imprisonment on Sunday for killing his elder brother.
The convicted man is ATM Khalequzzaman Kushol, 31.
Judge Shahed Nuruddin of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1, however, passed the order in the noon.
Moreover, the court also fined Tk 50,000 to him. In default the convicted will have to serve one more year in jail.
Confirming the matter, special Public Prosecutor (PP) Abu Abdullah Bhuiyan said that the court sent back Khalequzzaman to jail after the verdict.
Earlier on March 13, 2012, ATM Kamruzzman Kabir (37) was stabbed to death by his younger brother at their residence in the capital’s Sutrapur.
According to the case statements, noted film actor ATM Shamsuzzman, himself, filed a case with Sutrapur police station after the incident accusing his youngest son for murdering his elder brother.
Nevertheless, ATM Shamsuzzaman also gave deposition before the court against his son.
“It was the most unfortunate incident that my entire family had witnessed,” ATM Shamsuzzaman said in his deposition.
