Indefinite transport strike begins in Tharkurgaon

THAKURHGAON: An indefinite strike, jointly enforced by district Motor Owners’ Association, Motor Workers’ Union and Truck-Tank Lorry Union, began across the district from Monday morning.

The association and unions are observing the strike in protest against torture on workers by police and to press home demand of banning locally made shallow engine-run vehicles, known as Nasimon and Karimon, and other illegal three-wheelers form plying on the district’s roads.

They began the indefinite strike as the administration did not take any step to meet their demand though they observed 6-day strike.

Communications from the different parts of the country with the districts came to a halt. All inter-district and long-distance buses services remained off, causing extreme suffering to the passengers.

Besides, mormal activities of life halted due to the strike.

General secretary Haidar Ali Bablu of district Motor Owners’ Association confirmed about the strike.

He also threatened for tougher movement if their demands are not met.
