2500 arms, ammos recovered in Habiganj

HABIGANJ: A total of 2,500 firearms and ammunitions were recovered from Satchhari National Park at Chunarughat upazila of the district on Tuesday.

Sources said Rapid action Battalion (RAB) members recovered the huge weapons in a drive starting from the morning and the drive is still going on.

RAB personnel are searching there for firearms and ammunitions from August 29 as earlier a lot of weapons were also found from the same area.

However, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Mufti Mahmud told journalists that the recovered weapons include nine Assault Machine Guns (AMG), one Sub Machine Gun (SMG), one Beta Gun, one Auto Riffle, six Self-Loading Rifles (SLR), two Light Machine Guns (LMG), one sniper telescope and other 2,400 bullets and ammunitions.

The RAB official made the disclosure at a press briefing at its Sreemangal camp in the noon.

He told the newsmen that they would investigate who kept these weapons and how the arms and ammunitions went there.
