DHAKA: A cancer patient committed suicide jumping from the nine storied building of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in city on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nur Nabi, 40, son of one late Ismail Hossain, hailed from Mohadebpur village under Sadar Thana of Laxmipur district. 

Family sources said that Nur Nabi was admitted to DMCH early Tuesday.

Nur Nabi’s son Rakib told banglanews, “We got a place on the verandah of the 9th floor of the building after my father’s treatment in the emergency department. Suddenly my father jumped off the verandah.”

We rushed him to Emergency Department where on duty doctor declared him dead, he added.

DMCH Police Outpost In-Charge Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
