DHAKA: As announced by Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina of showing zero tolerance to food adulteration, law enforcers are expected to begin drive at the manufacturing factories across the country soon.

Sources concerned confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will start operations in city and elsewhere of the country, added the sources.

The premier asked the RAB to pay special attention to and involve in the matter.

RAB’s additional director Colonel Ziaul Ahasan told banglanews, “We always give preference to the drives against food adulteration.”

“The premier’s instruction has boosted our mental strength. This time, we will conduct operations directly at the manufacturing level,” Ziaul added.

Earlier, DMP commissioner Benazir Ahmed announced that they will begin operations against food adulteration from September 1.

Sources inside DMP said the drives have already got underway though no official announcement has been made yet.

DMP deputy commissioner (media and public relation) Masudur Rahman told banglanews, “Actions on drives against food adulteration have been continuing for many days and it will be strengthened soon.”

“DMP takes the challenges of making the city free from food adulteration. For this reason, the origin of adulteration will be hit first,” Masudur added.
