Robbery committed in two houses in Ashulia

SAVAR: Armed dacoits looted gold ornaments and cash money from two houses at Islampur village under Ashulia thana early Monday.

The gang also beat up two residents of a house during the robbery, leaving them injured.

Local people said, the masked robbers, numbering 8/10, first stormed into the house of one Tajuddin, a former official of Jahangirnagar University, at about 3:15am breaking the window grills.

They held the residents hostage at gun-point and looted 15 tolas of gold ornament and Tk 26,000 in cash.
 
Later, the robbers swooped on the neighbouring house of businessman Atiqur Rahman and looted 20 tolas of gold ornament and Tk 16,000 in cash.

The dacoits beat up Rahman’s wife and son as they screamed for neighbours’ help, leaving them injured.

Sirajul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia Thana, said police force were sent to the spot.
