DHAKA: A schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Jatrabari area of the capital on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Swarnali Akhter Lima, 14, daughter of Abdul Jalil, hailed from Shariatpur Sadar upazila, they were living at Tallabagh area of Dakkhin Jatrabari.

Mother of the deceased Moni Akhter told banglanews that one of their relatives found her daughter Lima, a student of class-VII at a high school at Jatrabari, hanging from bathroom ceiling at their house.

She was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on duty doctors declared her dead, she added.

The reason behind the suicide could not be known immediately.
