DHAKA: Two people, including a college girl, committed suicide in Wari and Banashree areas of the capital on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Sabina Akter, 16, student of class-XII in Dhaka City Women College and Imran Hossain, 30, resident of Rampura-Banshree.

Sabina’s uncle Monir Hossain said her niece committed suicide hanging herself with a scarf from the ceiling at her room in the area around 1:30pm.

Confirming the matter to banglanews In-Charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost Mozammel Haque said she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on duty doctor declared her dead.

On the other hand, Imran Hossain committed suicide by hanging himself in Rampura-Banashree area around 12:30pm.

However, he was rushed to DMCH where on duty doctor declared him dead.

Sub-Inspector of Rampura Thana M Tawhidul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The reasons behind the suicide could not be known immediately, sources added.

Their bodies were kept in DMCH morgue for autopsy.
