DHAKA: Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Wednesday said that the number of readers of the online newspapers is increasing day by day.
It is alarming to the print media, he observed while addressing a program titled ‘The role of online media to build digital Bangladesh’ at the National Press Club.
The print media of the country would become online media shortly after realizing the cry of the moment, he added.
He said online media are becoming popular as people want to know the incidents instant rather than a day later on newspapers, the audience was told.
The news from home and abroad are at the reach of people for the sake of online media, he added.
Mozammel Haque said the city dwellers along with the rural people now browse internet and read online news portals.
He also said ‘Digital Bangladesh’ means not only having a computer and internet connection at home but it also means achieving standard in GDP, education, health and so on.
Digital Bangladesh means to become financially solvent by using information technology, he added.
Emphasizing on the implement of broadcast policy, Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Mohammad Momtaz Uddin said the policy is auspicious to mass media.
