GAZIPUR: Two people were burnt alive as a fire broke out at Nayanpur village of Sreepur upazila in the district on Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Joynal Abedin, 35, son of Abdul Hamid hailed from Mymensingh district and Abdus Samad, 38, son of Raichh Uddin, hailed from Tangail district.

Gazipur Fire Service sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a house of the area around 7:15pm, leaving the two tenants of the house dead on the spot.

On information, fire fighters rushed in and doused the fire.

Some 10 rooms of the house were burnt, sources added.

Assistant Deputy-Director of Gazipur Fire Service Akhtaruzzaman Liton confirmed the matter to banglanews.
