HABIGANJ: Five people were killed and 10 more injured in a collision between bus and human hauler in Amtali area under Sadar Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Samsu Mia, 45, Jesmin Aktar, 18, daughter of Sanjan Ali, Itish Das, 55, Sajit Das, 55 and Munir Mia, 55.

Local sources said that Sylhet-bound a passenger bus collided head-on with a passenger-laden human hauler, locally known as maxi, in the area around 6:30am, leaving three passengers of Maxi dead on the spot and 12 others injured.

Later, on information, Habiganj Sadar Thana and Habiganj Fire Service men rushed to the spot and sent the injured to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where two other passengers died under treatment.

Habiganj Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Nazim Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
