NILPHAMARI: At least 10 houses were gutted in a devastating fire in Jolzanpara village under Domar Upazila of the district early Saturday.

Sources said that the fire originated from kitchen of Safiqul Islam and soon spread out to adjacent houses, leaving ten houses, two cows, seven goats and others house hold items burnt to ashes.

Later, on information, a fire fighting unit of Domar Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

Panga Motukpara Union Parsad Chairman Abdul Hakim Bhuttu said that the affected house owners estimated the loss in the fire at Tk 20 lakhs.
