DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Purnendu Bala, a sub-inspector of RAB-11, from Farmgate area of the city on Saturday for his alleged link to the gruesome seven-murder in Narayanganj.
RAB legal and media wing director Mufti Mahmud Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Mahmud said Purnendu was detained on suspicion as he went home on leave on April but did not join the workplace though the leave has been finished.
He was detained as suspect and is being interrogated in RAB custody, the RAB official added.
On April 30, seven bodies, including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four aides and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were found floating in the Shitalakshya River.
Following the day, Nazrul’s wife filed a murder case accusing several people including a local city corporation councilor and several RAB high officials.
