Maritime ports asked to hoist Signal 3

DHAKA: Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.

The meteorological department, in a warning message, said the monsoon low over northwest bay and adjoining Bangladesh-west Bengal coast intensified into a well-marked low over the same area.

Under its influence steep pressure gradient lies over North Bay. Squally weather may affect over North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports, the met office added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

In association with rain or thunder showers tempo,  south or southeasterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of  Dhaka, Faridpur,  Khulna , Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mymensingh and Sylhet  wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.
