DHAKA: Eminent journalist Abed Khan, also a columnist, on Saturday advised the Air-Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandaker to seek pardon to the nation for the writings in his latest book.
The senior journalist made the plea while addressing a Citizens’ Rally, organized by Online Activists, in front of the National Press Club.
AK Khandaker was the Deputy Chief of Staff of Bangladesh Armed Forces during the liberation war in 1971 and one of the sector commanders.
Indicating AK Khandaker, he said, “Ask for forgiveness withdrawing your book; considering your age, people would forgive you.”
The former planning minister was also advised to publish his speech clearly on newspapers.
In his book titled ‘1971: Ins and Outs’, he alleged that weapons were handed over to others by writing controversial words on Bangabandhu and the war.
In the book, published by Prothoma and launched Tuesday, he also said at the end of his historic March 7, 1971 speech Bangabandhu had uttered “Joy Pakistan” after “Joy Bangla.”
Abed Khan also opined that the government should take actions against those involved in distorting the history of Liberation War of Bangladesh.
Blogger Omi Rahman Pial moderated the rally.
