Proper navigation design for vessels a must

DHAKA: Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina ordered the authorities concerned to prepare proper design of navigation for vessels.

She told the shipping ministry officials during a visit at the ministry on Sunday morning.

The PM said that they should prepare proper navigation designs for vessels. They should not be busy to earn money.

She said that it cannot be tolerable any more to see a vessel is sinking down with a simple blow of wind.

The premier also ordered the authorities concerned to take effective measures to stop accidents in rivers.

Emphasizing proper training, the PM said that they should keep life saving equipments in vessels and trainings are needed to the people including the sareng masters in using the equipments.

She also put importance on improving service, river management, stopping river pollution as well as encroachment.

The PM inaugurated automation and video conference facilities in shipping ministry.

During the inauguration, she talked to Mongla and Marine Academy authorities.

She also passed the directives to improve the facilities of the ports.

Shipping minister Shahjahan Khan, shipping secretary and ministry officials, among others, were present during the visit.
