2 killed in capital road crash

DHAKA: Two persons were killed in a road accident in Rampura Bridge area in the capital on Sunday night.

One of the deceased was identified as Zahirul Islam, 36, a gold trader and son of Shahidul Islam of Debidar Thana of Comilla district.

Another unidentified man was around 35-aged rickshaw puller.

Sub-inspector (SI) Moazzem of Badda Police station confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Witness Shahin said “Local bus ‘Suprobhat Paribahan’ hit a rickshaw in the area around 9:30pm and rammed its puller and passenger, leaving the rickshaw puller dead on the spot and Zahirul critically injured.

Locals rushed Zahirul to the Badda Asian Hospital.

Later, his relatives took him to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries around 10:45 pm.

Police seized the bus though its driver managed to flee the spot.
