Law enforcers asked to be more alert

DHAKA: State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal directed law enforcement agencies to be more alert the videotaped message of al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri.

The directives came at a meeting of law and order related core committee in Home Affair Ministry on Sunday.

The state minister for home said it while talking to reporters after the meeting.

Kamal said they discussed about Zawahiri’s videotaped message and other issues and directed to be more conscious to avert any unwanted situation.

Pointing at the arrest of four members of Islamic States (IS) while coming to Bangladesh, the state minister said though they were going to Iraq, not Bangladesh but the intelligence agencies have remained alert.

In the meeting, they discussed about the intelligence agencies’ report.

A member of the meeting said there are no activities of al-Qaeda in Bangladesh.

Senior secretary of Home Affair Ministry Dr Mozammel Haque Khan, heads of police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Ansar and senior officials were present in the meeting.
