FARIDPUR: A police officer was run over by a bus in front of Karimpur Highway Thana of Kotwali upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Joynul Adedin, 45, Assistant Town Sub-Inspector (ATSI) of Karimpur Highway Thana and hailed from Purba Sayedpur village of Sayedpur village in Sitakunda Thana of Chittagong district.

Sources said a Faridpur-bound local bus ‘RG Paribahan’ from Kamarkhali ran over Joynal when he was checking the documents of vehicles in the area around 8:30 am, leaving him dead on the spot. 

Sub-inspector (SI) of Kotwali Thana Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The body was taken to the Faridpur Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
