BD education model to developing countries

DHAKA: Visiting UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova on Monday said Bangladesh set model to developing countries for its rapid development in education sector.

She made the observation when the visiting delegation met education minister Narul Islam Nahid at his office in city.

Irina Bokova admitted that the quality of education is gradually improving in Bangladesh.

However, highlighting the progress in the past six years, Nahid also expressed his optimism for UNESCO’s help in developing country’s education sector more.

Irina Bokova came to Bangladesh to present the memento titled ‘Tree of Peace’ to the Prime Minister on the occasion of the International Literacy Day 2014.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received the special memento from UNESCO in recognition to her outstanding contribution in promoting girls' and women's education.
