2 bodies recovered in Meghna

KISHOREGANJ:  Local divers recovered an engine-boat and bodies of two people from Meghna River in Lalpur Char under Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Monday some 13 days after the boat capsized in the river.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rouf, 70, and Pariskar Begum, 55, of Baishmoja village under Nabinagar upazila.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Bhairab Thana Officer-In-Charge M Badrul Alam Talukdar said, local divers rescued the trawler and found two bodies there.

On August, the boat 50 people onboard sank in the river near the wood market of Bhairab due to overload. 15 people went missing in the accident. 

Fire Service and Bangladesh Navy jointly ran the rescue operation. Rescuers traced the underwater-trawler on August 28. District administration halted the rescue works after the rescuers confirmed there were no dead bodies inside the boat.
