RAJSHAHI: Three labourers were killed as they fell in a septic tank at Charghat upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Mozammel Haque, 50, Mukul, 38 and Jamal Uddin, 45.

Nimpara Union Parisad Chairman Abdul Kuddus Palash confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The UP chairman told banglanews that the three laborers had been working to clean the septic tank for the last two days. In the second day, a laborer opened a septic tank at Baliadia village and fell inhaling poisonous gas.

Later, two others jumped into the septic tank to save him, leaving all three dead on the spot, he added.

Officer-in-Charge of Charghat Thana Khandaker Golam Mortaza said they sent police forces to the spot.
