RAJSHAHI:  Two children drowned in a pond in Dakra village under Charghat upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Mostafa Kamal, son of Islam Hossain, and Khokon, son of Shahadul of the village.

Both were 11 years old and students of class V of Dakra Primary School.

Charghat Thana Officer-In-Charge Golam Murtaza told banglanews, the children went to the pond for bath in the morning prior to go to their school.

One of them sank as he could not swim whereas another drowned as he tried to rescue the other.

Later, locals recovered the dead bodies from the pond.
